Transforming Education: Urban Green Farms & The Root Cause Join Forces to Support Country Kids' Wellbeing 🌟

Urban Green Farms is now a proud sponsor of the Empowered Community Collective Project, bringing a wave of positive change to Narrabri, Wee Waa, and Moree. This incredible initiative is all about nurturing wellbeing in our country kids, and we’re excited to be part of it.

What’s the Big News?

The Empowered Community Collective Project, spearheaded by The Royal Agricultural Society Foundation (RASF), The Root Cause, Moree Plains Shire Council, and Narrabri Shire Council, is set to make a significant impact in our region. Thanks to a generous donation from the RASF, the award-winning school wellbeing program “Making Friends with Food” will be introduced to 16 whole school communities—reaching approximately 2,000 children, their teachers, and families throughout 2025.

Why "Making Friends with Food"?

Food is more than just fuel; it’s the foundation of wellbeing. And when it comes to school life outcomes, a solid understanding of food and nutrition is crucial. The “Making Friends with Food” program is designed to help kids develop a healthy relationship with food while simplifying mealtimes for families.

Here’s what the program includes:

  • Engaging In-Person Workshops: Fun and interactive sessions for the whole school community.

  • Online Resources: Valuable tools for teachers and parents.

  • Year-Long Mentoring: Personalised support from a dedicated Certified Instructor. For our region, this means local Narrabri mum, Ebonnie Whan, who brings over 13 years of teaching experience.

How You Can Make a Difference

While the initial funding is in place, we need your help to ensure this transformative program

reaches every school it can. Here’s how you can get involved:

  • Advocate for the Program: Talk to your school leaders about the benefits of “Making Friends with Food” and express your support.

  • Spread the Word: Encourage other parents to get on board. A united voice can make a powerful impact.

  • Join the Movement: Become a member of the EmpowerED Community Collective Project and contribute ideas to support our kids’ wellbeing.

Your Voice Matters

When parents rally together for a cause, great things happen. Your advocacy can make a significant difference in whether schools adopt this crucial program. By showing enthusiasm and commitment, you help ensure that our children benefit from all that “Making Friends with Food” has to offer. Together, we can create a brighter, healthier future for our children.
